Yesterday was Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day, which commemorates the emancipation from slavery in the United States.
I have had the pleasure to enjoy some really great shows recently: Insecure and The Carmichael Show. Both are shows that showcase talent from young black artists, writers, and comedians, in a smart and powerful way.
I am glad that as black people we are finding our voices more, we are sharing our stories, we are talking about the shadows, we are owning our shit and we need more of it.
We, as black people, need to stay informed, stay proactive, stay healthy, stay dreaming, stay conscious, stay focused, stay loving, stay mindful ,and keep reaching for higher states of being.
